Virat Kohli, the pre-eminent cricketer of the age and perhaps the most famous man in India, and Rassie Erasmus, the genius who has masterminded the Springboks to two rugby World Cup triumphs, share a birthday. Who knew. And they are not alone.
Priyanka Chopra's brother-in-law, lesser known as Kevin Jonas, was also born on November 5. So were British actress and two-time Oscar winner Vivien Leigh - a native of Darjeeling, no less - Canadian rocker Bryan Adams, whose Summer of 69 still clangs, on request, around Kolkata's live bar band scene, and Art Garfunkel, of Simon and Garfunkel, whose music is far too quiet and contemplative to survive in those raucous spaces. As well as Paddy Upton, whose name no doubt is more widely known in India than all of the above, Kohli and Chopra excepted.
