They say it's never over until it's over but you got to say it's absolutely tough for New Zealand to bounce back from this assault in the last one hour or so. Root and Pope have pretty much killed this chase with their century stand. They have added 132 off just 163 balls to bring the equation down. England now need 113 on the final day and they have 8 wickets in hand to get the job done. NZ need a miracle.

50 for Joe

Another day, another 50 for Joe Root. That's his 54th in Test cricket and not many would forget this one. He played one audacious reverse ramp off Wagner that went all the way for a six. Easily, the highlight of the day.

Century stand

Oh boy these two are really turning on the heat here towards the end. The runs are flowing real quick. This could be trouble for New Zealand in their quest to stage a fight on day 5.

50 for Pope

He has been very good today scoring at a very brisk pace. He gets to a half-century now and looks like England are nudging ahead here. Joe Root is looking in very good touch as well at the other end. These two have added more than 75 already.

Bizarre

New Zealand lose two reviews in two balls. You don't see that often, do you? On the first instance, the impact was clearly outside off and in the next, guess what? The impact was outside off again. That was a desperate move gone wrong. Root survives.

Crawley falls

New Zealand get rid of both the openers now. Crawley was entering into a nice little zone where the boundaries were flying but they have sent him back now. He sees a nicely tossed up delivery outside off and wants to smash it through covers but ends up hitting it to Williamson in tame fashion. Joe Root is out in the middle.

Crawley takes on Boult

You don't see that often especially in Test matches but Zak Crawley has demolished Boult in an over. After breaking the shackles with a pull shot that went for the boundary, Crawley fetched three more fours to make it 16 in the over. England are already 41/1 after just 10 overs. New Zealand need some quiet overs here.

False start

That came out of nowhere. England lose their opening wicket and it's a run out that has cost them heavily. Crawley drove one to the left of mid off but Williamson stops the ball and hands it over to the bowler. Crawley was ball watching after taking one step whereas Lees was halfway down the ground and couldn't make it back in time.
