Pakistan Cricket Board have retained Bismah Maroof as the national women's team's captain for the 2022-23 season.

Questions were raised about leadership progression after Pakistan's dismal World Cup show in New Zealand, where they won only one of their seven round-robin games to make a league-stage exit. However, the PCB has shown faith in the veteran who has been incharge since Sana Mir relinquished the position across formats following the team's exit from 2016 (T20) and 2017 (ODI) World Cups.

"It is truly an honour for any cricketer to captain their country and it is a great privilege for me to continue in this role," Maroof said after the announcement. "The 2022-23 cricket season is the busiest for Pakistan women's side and we are excited and geared up for the challenges it presents."
