James Faulkner has been ruled out of the ongoing Big Bash League after aggravating his hamstring injury. The Hobart Hurricanes allrounder last played on December 27 at the Gabba against Brisbane Heat and left the field after bowling 1.4 overs.

Faulkner has left the bubble and will seek further treatment in Hobart. "Faulkner will undergo scans in Hobart to asses the extent of the injury at this point in time, and resume treatment back home," Hobart Hurricanes said in a statement. "At this stage, it is unlikely that Faulkner will be able to take any further part in the tournament."

Faulkner featured in five games for Hurricanes where he picked up eight wickets and scored 44 runs. Hurricanes have now called up Will Jacks into the squad but have also lost the services of Colin Ingram, who has left Australia to take part in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Hurricanes have won five of their ten games and have 19 points but are seventh in the table. They are, however, just two points away from fourth places Perth Scorchers and have four games left.
