Live Cricket Score - West Indies vs India, 2nd ODI, Trinidad
India win by 59 runs by DLS method
Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer played key roles in India bagging a 1-0 lead as West Indies manage 210 after being set 270 in 46 overs.
West Indies made a steady start in the chase but all the early scoring was done by Evin Lewis (65). Chris Gayle made a slow start and eventually fell for 11 off 24. However, when he crossed seven, he became the highest run-getter for West Indies in the format as he went past Brian Lara's record of 10405. Earlier in the day, Gayle also became the first player from West Indies to play 300 ODIs. Khaleel Ahmed nullified the Shai Hope threat as the batsman chopped one back on to fall for 5.
Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer got the chase back on track before the latter fell to Kuldeep Yadav to end the 40-run stand. Another promising stand flourished between Lewis and Nicholas Pooran as they managed to add 56 for the fourth wicket. However, just when it seemed the pressure moved towards India, West Indies lost a wicket and gave the visitors the edge. Kuldeep dismissed Lewis while Pooran fell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar as West Indies slipped to 179 for 5 after keeping India on their toes.
It was all downhill from there on as Bhuvneshwar struck some timely blows to push the game beyond West Indies even as the equation came down to 89 off the last ten with three wickets in hand.
