STUMPS: Australia need 219; India need 6

The hosts will need a record chase at Adelaide to prevent India from going up in the series. India's bowling has been disciplined through the last session and they look primed to continue doing so tomorrow. If Australia negate them, it would be a monumental achievement. Either way, the last day has many, many things to look forward to.

WICKET: Shami gets Handscomb

That came against the run of play, a pretty soft dismissal. Handscomb hits the ball twice trying to pull and presents a simple catch to midwicket. Shami gets India the breakthrough.

Australia fight on

Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh have brought about a lot of calm to this innings. Marsh has negated the threat of Ashwin with assured footwork while Handscomb has been seeing off some probing stuff from the pacers. Australia might just believe in a miracle if these two last till the end of the day.

WICKET: Ashwin gets Khawaja

End of a highly scratchy innings from Khawaja. There was pressure built up by the pacers at him from the other end. He had missed a couple of big shot attempts earlier against Ashwin. This time he gets bat on it but loses shape and timing. Rohit takes a good catch at deep extra cover. Australia lose three, trailing by 263.

WICKET: Shami gets Harris

He's been targetting the backfoot shots on the offside but this time edges it to the 'keeper. Australia lose their second wicket and trail by 279 now.

Life for Harris!

India, strangely, left the second slip spot open and a thick edge from Harris flies there. Pujara, from first slip, dives and gets a hand to it but it doesn't stick on. India making far too many mistakes at the moment.

TEA: Ashwin gets Finch!

More drama before the Tea break. Finch is adjudged caught bat-pad off Ashwin but he decides not to review it. Australia go into the break, trailing by 295 and giving India a boost late in the session.
