Hampshire sign Northeast from Kent on four-year deal

Hampshire have fought off competition from several other counties and signed highly-rated batsman Sam Northeast from Kent on a four-year deal, the club confirmed on Monday (February 19).

Northeast, who will soon be heading to the Caribbean to play for the England Lions one-day team, has been signed on a highly lucrative contract which will keep him at the south coast county until at least 2021. Essex were also known to be interested in securing his services as were Nottinghamshire and Sussex amongst others but Hampshire eventually beat off the competition.
