Shubman Gill was rattled by a short ball from Boult on debut, and got out on a score of 9 off 21 balls.

Martin Guptill kicked off New Zealand's chase with 6, 4 and 4 before edging to backward point.

Henry Nicholls and Ross Taylor tracked India's score down with a fifty-run stand for the third wicket.
