England won the toss and opted to bat in Southampton.

Bumrah struck early to set England back, getting Keaton Jennings and Jonny Bairstow.

Bairstow's wicket was followed by Alastair Cook's as England went to Lunch at 57/4.

Shami accounted for both Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes early after Lunch.

Moeen Ali added a fifty-run stand with Sam Curran to help England out of a spot of bother at 86/6.

Sam Curran survived a close call for leg before, but was given not out. India reviewed, but in vain.

Ashwin appealed for a leg before against Curran, but wasn't given. India reviewed, but in vain.

India finished the day on a high, with their openers seeing off the four overs for 19 runs. Still trailing by 227.
