dilshan's t20i career highlights
Dilshan's T20I career highlights
Dilshan was only the second Sri Lankan to score a T20I hundred, after Mahela Jaywardene. He was also the second from the Island nation to score a ton in all three formats of the game.
Tillakaratne Dilshan made his T20I debut against England in 2006. The flamboyant batsman batted at No. 4 and only contributed 2 with the bat in his maiden innings.
Dilshan's career took an upward curve when he was asked to open the batting. The promotion and license to play freely brought the best out of him.
The 2009 World T20 was a very fruitful outing for Dilshan. He was the highest run-getter in the tournament and helped Sri Lanka reach the final, where they lost to Pakistan.
During the 2009 World T20, Dilshan brought out the famous Dilscoop. The scoop was named after him as he played it on a consistent basis and executed it to perfection against the fastest of bowlers.
Dilshan is also second in the highest run-getters chart in T20Is, behind Brendon McCullum. And he is one of the three Sri Lankan batsmen to aggregate over 1000 T20I runs.
An all-rounder par excellence, Dilshan batted, bowled, was an electric fielder and a handy wicket-keeper. He has 31 catches and 2 stumpings to his name in T20Is.
Dilshan loved batting against West Indies in T20Is. In the nine matches he has played against them, he averages close to 50 and has four fifties to his name.
After being the runner's up in the 2009 World T20 and 2012 World T20, Dilshan finally laid hands on the winner's cup in 2014, when Sri Lanka beat India.
Dilshan hangs up his boots after 80 T20Is. His last T20I game for Sri Lanka is against Australia at the R.Premadasa in Colombo.
