Brendon McCullum's Test career in images
McCullum came close twice to registering his name on the Lord's honours board getting dismissed in the 90s.
Brendon McCullum made his Test debut against South Africa in Hamilton and managed a half-century in his 1st innings.
His 1st Test century came against Bangladesh in his 7th Test match.
For the 1st time in his career in 2010, he scored hundreds in back-to-back Tests.
By the end of 2010, he gave up his wicket-keeping duties and the move immediately paid with him registering his 1st double ton.
Over the last couple of years, his brand of captaincy has helped New Zealand improve in Test Cricket
In 2014, McCullum became the 1st Kiwi to score a triple century in Tests.
In the 2014 Boxing Day Test, McCullum came very close to breaking the fastest double century world record. He fell for 195 off just 134 balls.
For someone who rarely bowled, his only Test wicket came in 2014 when he picked up Sarfraz Ahmed at Dubai in a drawn match.
In his final Test, he smashed a 54-ball hundred, which is the fastest in Test history.
McCullum's best Test knock came against Pakistan at Sharjah when he smashed 202 to help New Zealand secure an innings victory.
He became the 1st player ever to play 100 consecutive Test matches in the history of the game.
During the course of the knock, he also overtook Gilchrist's record to hit the most number of sixes in Test Cricket. He has finished with 107 sixes.
